Living With World Religions
Overview
Interacting with other world religions is a greater reality in America than it has been in previous generations. Religions such as Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism have worship centers in all states and in many cities nearby. Public schools are observing the holidays of other religions. Christians are intersecting to an ever greater degree with those with different worldviews.
Interacting with other faiths well involves being sensitive to those from different religious backgrounds but also requires wisdom to distinguish what must be presented in the Christian message.
In this one week seminar, we will be interacting with several of today’s world religions. We will also be addressing the reality of pluralism in our age.
Keynote Speaker
Andrew and Norine Brunson were involved in starting churches, training, aid to refugees, and a house of prayer in Turkey for 23 years until being falsely accused of terrorism in October 2016. After this Andrew was held for two years in Turkish prisons. Due to a worldwide prayer movement and significant political pressure from the US government, he was finally sentenced and then dramatically released in October 2018. Andrew has a PhD from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Andrew and Norine have three grown children.
Andrew will be leading our time on Islam as well as helping us to be prepared for persecution. In shorter sessions, Dr. Rob Arner will be interacting with Hinduism and Buddhism. Rev. Roger Wambold will be presenting on Judaism. Drs. David McKinley and Brad Mellon will broach Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Then Dr. Drake Williams will discuss pluralism.
