Ephrata Cloister Tour

  • Central Schwenkfelder Church 2111 South Valley Forge Road Lansdale, PA, 19446 United States (map)

We are taking a group to the Ephrata Cloister in Ephrata, PA on Wednesday afternoon June 4. This unique spot was founded in 1732 by Conrad Beissel and was known as a spot of prayer and religious devotion. It is one the oldest religious communities in America. The community also farmed, made paper, and textiles. They composed a cappella music, printed famous works like the Martyrs Mirror, and became known for the German art of Frakturschriften. During the American Revolution, the cloister served as a hospital for nearly 250 American soldiers.

If you are interested in joining us for this tour, please contact Dr. Drake Williams. We will leave around 1:00 pm from the church and be back around dinnertime.
