Our Schwenkfelder General Conference’s Day of Remembrance service will be at the Schwenkfelder Missionary Church on 29 West Tulpehocken Street in the Aulenbach House in the Germantown section of Philadelphia on Sunday, September 27th at 3:00.
If you have never been to one of these services before, here are some reasons why you might want to come.
The service started due to people wishing to express their thanksgiving to God for His protection.
It is the longest continuous running thanksgiving service in America. Be part of the tradition!
The service came out of persecution, which is something that many Christians are experiencing around the world. Ancestors of our church experiencing persecution, too.
It is a witness to early American Christianity.
At the end of the service, you have the chance to fellowship with others and eat bread and apple butter. This meal is a part of what the first Schwenkfelder immigrants ate after crossing the Atlantic in 1734.
